An attractive stone-built Victorian property which benefits from a quiet and elevated position above the attractive market town of Appleby. The town centre is no more than 5 minutes walk. It is situated just below the pretty station, which sits on the world-famous Settle-Carlisle line (please see Railway section for more details).
The Holiday Cottage accommodation is arranged over 4 levels:
A converted basement "den" with 2 divans - which can easily be made up to provide 2 extra beds (there's a TV used for the kids' Games Console).
Ground Floor - Lounge; Dining Room; Fitted Kitchen and Utility Room.
First Floor - 2 Bedrooms and Bathroom
Second Floor - Large Attic Bedroom
Outside - paved area to front; patio to rear, with garden furniture (table chairs, parasol etc) - good views across to the Lakes.
The House benefits from access to front and rear, the latter being useful if you need to remove wet and dirty boots and clothes. The Ground Floor offers an open plan format, but with sliding doors to allow you to have 2 rooms, the living room has a gas fire, widescreen tv (with digital satellite, video and DVD), sofa and two large armchairs. There is a large bay window to the front. We also have a piano, which you are free to use (if you can!)
The Dining Room can be treated as an extension of the living room, or closed off using the sliding doors. There is a dining table, with 6 chairs plus a good quality hi-fi system (CD, Cassette, Tuner).
Leading off this room is the fully fitted kitchen comprising ample storage, electric hob and built-in oven/grill (2 section), dishwasher, microwave, sinks, toaster, kettle etc. Next to the kitchen is the rear lobby/utility room, which has a large fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. This is also where the Gas Boiler is located.
The master bedroom at the front of the house has a kingsize double bed, fitted wardrobes/dressing table plus bedside and other drawer space (see picture). The second bedroom offers flexible sleeping options - a new "guest bed" can be used as a single, twin or large double. There are fitted wardrobes and drawers. Both bedrooms have a alarm-clock radio. The Attic Room has a further 3 single beds, one of which has a pull-out extra bed (cannot be made into a double as this is lower than the main bed). A fine view from the dormer window includes Appleby Castle and the distant Howgills.
The first floor bathroom has a bath with electric shower unit, washbasin and toilet, plus airing cupboards and heated towel rail.
